Sky fall to Dream 97-89 for fourth loss in a row

Courtney Vandersloot has double-double in losing effort

Courtney Vandersloot totaled 22 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds, but the Sky fell to the Atlanta Dream 97-89 on Wednesday in the WNBA bubble in Bradenton, Florida.

It was the fourth consecutive loss for the Sky (11-10), who have one game remaining Friday against the Dallas Wings before starting the playoffs. The Sky will either be the sixth or seventh seed, but either way will play the Connecticut Sun (10-11) in a single-elimination playoff game.

For Vandersloot, it was her eighth double-double of the season and 30th of her career.

Kahleah Copper and Allie Quigley each scored 17 points and Gabby Williams added 12 for the Sky, who led 55-45 at halftime.

Betniah Laney scored 24 points and Courtney Williams 20 for the Dream (6-14).

The Sky shot 35-for-75 from the field, including 8 of 24 from three-point range.

The Sky took an 86-83 lead on a Williams three-pointer with 5:20 remaining, but were outscored 14-3 the rest of the way. Their only only bucket was another Williams three, which brought the Sky to within 95-89 with 1:51 to go.
