Woman suspected in shooting at a hotel in Manhattan Beach; no injuries reported

Investigators believe a man and a woman were targeted by a female suspect in a shooting at a hotel in Manhattan Beach, but no one was wounded early Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Officers responded to several reports of shots fired at the Residence Inn, 1700 N. Sepulveda Blvd. at about 3:14 a.m., Manhattan Beach police said in a news release. Investigators believe a woman fired into a vehicle parked on the hotel’s lot that was occupied by two people, but they were not struck by gunfire.

“This was a targeted attack, and absolutely not random,” Manhattan Beach Police Sgt. Tim Zins said. “The suspect knew the victims.”

Detectives have identified the suspect, and were searching for her Tuesday afternoon. Her identity was not immediately released.

This was an isolated incident, and police do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community, Zins said.

Officials asked anyone with information regarding the shooting to call Det. Shawn Thompson at . Tips can also be left anonymously at .
