Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin have more in common that youth, fame and pretty blonde looks.
The pop star, 24, and the model, 21, also share a devotion to God, with the celebrity-friendly Hillsong Church in Los Angeles, headed by charismatic pastor Carl Lentz, serving as one of their favorite spots for date nights during their whirlwind romance, according to People.
“Justin has a really deep faith, and he truly loves God,” a source told People in 2017. That year, Beiber turned to the church after canceling the remainder of his Purpose world tour during what was described a personal and spiritual crisis.
“He has found a church family that accepts him and loves him for who he is, not for his fame or money,” the source said.
Bieber’s love of God certainly was present in his Instagram post Monday, confirming that he became engaged to Baldwin over the weekend during a vacation getaway in the Bahamas. Indeed, he wrote as if his love for Baldwin and their engagement was the work of divine intervention.
Bieber gushed at length about how Baldwin is the love of his life. He also explained how committed he is to leading “our family with honor and integrity, letting Jesus through his Holy Spirit guide us in everything we do and every decision we make.”
“I am soooo in love with everything about you!” Bieber wrote. “My heart is COMPLETELY and FULLY YOURS and I will ALWAYS put you first! You are the love of my life Hailey Baldwin and I wouldn’t want to spend it with anybody else.”
Bieber also wrote as if God had guided him on when to propose. That may mean that God had a hand in Bieber’s decision to pop the question in front of other diners at a restaurant at their Bahamas resort. According to TMZ, Bieber’s security team asked other diners to put their phones away before he got down on one knee to ask Baldwin to marry him.
“Gods timing really is literally perfect,” Bieber said in his post. “We got engaged on the seventh day of the seventh month, the number seven is the number of spiritual perfection, it’s true GOOGLE IT!”
Bieber then cited a biblical passage, Proverbs 18:22, which is interpreted as explaining how God created marriage and believes that marriage is important for the individual and for society. Bieber wrote: “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains FAVOR from the Lord!”
Bieber then ended his post: “This is the year of favor!!!!”
A few minutes after Bieber’s posting, Baldwin tweeted back, affirming her love for him and her belief that they have God to thank for their union. She wrote, “Not sure what I did in life to deserve such happiness but I am so utterly grateful to God for giving me such an incredible person to share my life with! No words could ever express my gratitude.”
