For several years now, Duggar fans have speculated that the relationship between Jana Duggar and Laura DeMasie is something more than a friendship.
That may sound far-fetched, given the Duggar family’s strict ban on premarital sex of all kids, and homosexual sex in particular.
But there’s real reason to believe that Laura and Jana are dating despite Jim Bob’s strict rules against such relationships.
For starters, a family insider told The Hollywood Gossip exclusively that Jana is “in love” with Laura and doesn’t seem to care that her family has figured it out.
On top of that, it’s been rumored that Laura was “sent away” by Jim Bob as a result of her very close relationship with Jana.
These days, Laura lives in Arlanta, where she works for a highly regarded design firm.
Or at least she was living in Atlanta.
These days, there’s some confusion about the location of Laura’s homebase, and it seems she doesn’t plan on clearing the air anytime soon.
Over the holiday weekend, Laura was at the Silver Dollar City amusement park in Branson, Missouri along with Jana, her brother James Duggar, and her sister-in-law, Abbie Burnett, who is married to Jana’s twin brother, John David.
The Duggars have long been fans of the wholesome Silver Dollar City estblishment, as it’s a relatively short drive from their native Tontitown, Arkansas.
But it’s quite a haul from Laura’s home in Atlanta.
Which led to widespread curiosity about what the Georgia transplant was along for the excursion.
Laura has been spending a lot of time in and around Arkansas in recent weeks, and the situation has led to widesprwad speculation that she’s keeping some sort of secret.
Some believe Laura returned to Arkansas to ride out the coronavirus pandemic.
Others believe she’s back living at home full-time, having decided big city life simply wasn’t for her.
A third group is convinced that Laura has been defying travel bans to make the long trek from Georgia to Arkansas, simply so that she can spend quality time with Jana.
If that’s the case, obviously it would bolster the rumor that the two women are more than just friends.
And it would also serve to infuriate Jim Bob.
Insiders say the Duggar patriarch used his clout and connections to help Laura land her dream job — but he waited until said dream job could be found a few hundred miles from where his eldest daughter lives.
We don’t know if that’s true, but we do know that Jim Bob chaperoned Jana and Laura’s trip to Las Vegas because of his concerns over the nature of the girls’ relationship.
So it’s safe to assume he’s not terribly thrilled with the fact that Laura is still such a persistent presence in Jana’s life.
Clearly, the ladies weren’t alone on their recent excursion to Silver Dollar City, but their choice of seemingly random companions has lent credence to rumors that this was a romantic getaway.
