Naturally, many of the 50 million or so annual visitors to Los Angeles want to stay as close to the beach as possible. Thankfully, there are many LA beach hotels, ranging from those sit on the sand, to others within walking distance.
As a Los Angeles local, I’ve booked many staycations at various beachfront hotels and the following list stands out for incredible rooms, stunning pools, prime beach access, and great on-site dining – with views to match.
The best beach hotels in Los Angeles were selected based on the following criteria:
Every hotel has either been visited by one of our Insider Reviews’ team of travel writers or was heavily researched to qualify its place on our list.
Every hotel is located along the Los Angeles coast and beach communities and is within walking distance of the Pacific Ocean, from Manhattan Beach in the South Bay, up north to Malibu.
Our list includes four- or five-star properties for an elevated experience.
Each hotel has a Trip Advisor rating of “Very Good” or above with a substantial number of positive reviews and is highly rated on other trusted traveler platforms like Booking.com.
Each hotel caps out at a max price of $675 per night for off-peak dates. So you won’t see bucket-list stays like Nobu Ryokan Malibu on this list, which commands nightly rates in the thousands.
