Authorities identify motorcyclist killed in Edens Expy. crash

Arthur De la Cruz was traveling north in his motorcycle about 5:30 a.m. on I-94 near Wilson Avenue when he swerved into the left shoulder and struck a the left side bridge pillar, Illinois State Police said.

A motorcyclist was killed and another person injured in a crash Monday morning on the Edens Expressway near suburban Calumet City.

Arthur De la Cruz was traveling north in his motorcycle about 5:30 a.m. on I-94 near Wilson Avenue when he swerved into the left shoulder and struck a the left side bridge pillar, Illinois State Police said.

The 48-year-old, of Arlington Heights, was thrown off his motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.

Another person was taken to a hospital in good condition, Chicago Fire Department spokesperson Larry Langford said

All lanes were shut down until 8 a.m. for an investigation, Illinois State Police said. The circumstances of the crash were not immediately released.
