The scorching hot weather is set to continue across the UK as millions in England celebrate the lifting of nearly all Covid restrictions.
Tens of thousands of sun-hungry Brits flocked to beaches to mark the hottest day of the year in England and Wales on Sunday.
A temperature of 31.6C was recorded in Heathrow – topping the 30.3C recorded in Coton in the Elms, Derbyshire the day before.
Wales saw 30.2C weather in Cardiff, compared with Saturday’s offering of 29.6C (85.28F) in Usk, Monmouthshire.
But the heatwave could soon reach new heights, with forecasters predicting temperatures of up to 32C this week.
Becky Mitchell, a meteorologist at the Met Office, said: ‘We could get up to 32C (89.6F) next week, it is possible each day for different places in the country.
‘The most likely areas to get 32C are parts of the Midlands and down towards south-west England and potentially London, they are all going to see the highest temperatures in the coming days.’

Saturday had marked the hottest day of the year for all four nations.
It was the hottest day since records began for Northern Ireland with 31.2C (88.16F) recorded in Ballywatticock, in Co Down.
But the nation is far off the roasting heat seen this time last year after 38.7C was recorded at Cambridge Botanical Gardens on July 25 2019.
Many people in England will be thrilled by the heatwave as social distancing ends and clubs reopen across the country.
