San Jose: Bicyclist struck and killed Monday afternoon

SAN JOSE — A bicyclist was struck by a car and killed here Monday afternoon, in the city’s 11th fatal crash of the year, police said.

The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. near the Brokaw Road underpass of Interstate 880. Police said in a news release the bicyclist was riding across the street, “outside of a marked crosswalk” when a westbound pickup struck collided with the bicycle.

Police have not identified the victim other than to say he was a male; his name, age, and city of residence haven’t been released. The person died in a hospital hours later, police said.

The driver stuck around and cooperated with investigators, police said.
