Zendaya may be the talk of Tinseltown — but talking is something she struggles with.
The star worries she gives people the wrong impression because of her nervousness.
The 24-year-old — who is garnering serious Oscar buzz for her role in romantic drama Malcolm & Marie — revealed her stylist told her she was seen as ‘mean’ because she didn’t talk much on set.
But Zendaya, who also starred in The Greatest Showman and TV hit Euphoria, says she is simply too nervous to strike up some casual chit-chat.
‘In this industry, I had to learn how to do small talk and stuff, because I guess I would kind of come off cold to people because I didn’t really know how to start conversation,’ she said.
‘My stylist was like, “You come off kind of cold. People think you’re mean because you don’t talk”, when really I just was too nervous.’

The pandemic means the former Disney teen star has had to face up to who she really is away from movie sets.
‘Lockdown was my first time just being like, “OK, who am I without this?” which is a very scary thing to confront and work through, because I don’t really know Zendaya outside of the Zendaya who works,’ she explained to GQ.
‘I didn’t realise how much my job and my art were a part of my identity as a human.
‘I feel most like myself when I’m working. I felt like, when I wasn’t working, my powers had gone away, and I was like, “Who the f***?”’

One person who took advantage of the sneak peek was Zayn’s girlfriend Gigi Hadid, who revealed her favourite tracks on Twitter.

The 25-year-old model wrote: ‘ext. 6! ext. 8! Oh also 2. But honestly they all slap.’
