Saved By The Bell star Dustin Diamond is currently in hospital amid fears he may have cancer.

The actor, who is best known as Screech in the 90s teen sitcom, fell ill over the weekend in Florida and was taken to be checked out.

TMZ then reported that it’s feared he may have cancer, as it runs in his family.

Diamond’s reps have confirmed the reports to Metro.co.uk and said: ‘Yes it is true he is in the hospital.

‘We are awaiting on more tests and then we can comment.

‘Please say your thoughts and prayers for him.’

The 44-year-old was noticeably absent from Saved By The Bell’s reboot earlier this year, having fallen out with the main cast and slammed the show in a tell-all book.

In 2013, he recanted the statements in the book, saying they were exaggerated from answers given to a ghost writer, who actually penned the ‘autobiography’.

By that point, numerous co-stars had spoken out to slam what he’d written about them as false.

Last October, he became centre of a death hoax when it was claimed he ‘died in a prison riot’, despite not being in jail at the time.
