Bamford’s New Luxury Watch Is Made From Michelin Pilot Sport Tires

Fashion implements recycled rubber frequently in sustainable sneakers, but when discussing recycled tire rubber, a racy timepiece makes for the perfect application.

That’s the logic the luxury product specialists at London’s Bamford have followed to create the new B347 Pilot Sport as part of its ongoing partnership with Michelin.

Specifically, the limited-edition watch’s strap is made from upcycled Pilot Sport 5 225/40 ZR18 tires—a size fitting old-school Bimmers like the E35 and E46 M3, the Lotus Evora, and many more, as DuPont Registry notes.

The 41.5mm watch itself, however, features a motorsport-inspired design, with a case crafted from carbon fiber, a checkered flag pattern adorning the bezel, and a black-coated steel caseback with an engraving of the Michelin Man.

Being an automatic chronograph, functions include hours, minutes and small second at 9 o’clock, 60 seconds counter in the center, 30 minutes counter at 3 o’clock, a stop second feature, a date with quick setting, and self-winding. Powering comes from an SW510 reference from Swiss movement maker Sellita, which supports two push-buttons and a boasts a power reserve of 62-hours.

Limited to 133 examples, the Michelin x Bamford B347 Pilot Sport is available to purchase now for $2,550 before the first orders are fulfilled in December of 2022.
