No. 1 ST. FRANCIS (24-4)

What’s happened since the last ranking: Lancers return to the top of the Bay Area News Group poll with convincing victories over Mitty and Riordan. St. Francis will be favored to win again today in the WCAL playoff semifinals, having already beaten Sacred Heart Cathedral twice this season.

Up next: Today vs. Sacred Heart Cathedral in the WCAL semifinals, 4 p.m.

No. 2 VALLEY CHRISTIAN (22-5-1)

What’s happened since the last ranking:.Warriors’ coach John Diatte earned his 700th career victory in a first-round playoff win over Serra. He is the 14th baseball coach in California history to win that many games. Valley Christian beat Serra 3-2, scoring all three runs in the sixth.

Up next: Today at Bellarmine in the WCAL semifinals, 4 p.m.

No. 3 DE LA SALLE (19-5)

What’s happened since the last ranking:.Spartans have lost two of their last three, including a 10-5 non-league setback against Granite Bay on April 30. They’ve allowed 19 runs in those three games, made five errors in the Granite Bay defeat and issued six walks in a 3-0 loss to California.

Up next: Today vs. San Ramon Valley in EBAL semifinals, 4 p.m.

No. 4 BELLARMINE (20-6-1)

What’s happened since the last ranking:.Bells did all their scoring in the second inning of a 7-2 victory over St. Ignatius Tuesday in the opening round of the WCAL playoffs. Lefty hitting OF Rowan Kelly, a UC-Santa Barbara commit, homered for Bellarmine.

Up next: Today vs. Valley Christian in the WCAL semifinals, 4 p.m. 

No. 5 PALO ALTO (22-5)

What’s happened since the last ranking:.Vikings outscored Los Altos 33-6 in a two-game sweep to conclude the regular season. CF Henry Bolte, rated the No. 44 prospect in the country by Baseball America, finished with a .482 BA, 12 HR in 83 AB, 39 RBIs and 43 steals in 27 games. 

Up next: Today vs. Santa Clara in the SCVAL De Anza playoffs, 4 p.m.

No. 6 CLAYTON VALLEY CHARTER (19-4)

What’s happened since the last ranking:.Oregon State signee Jacob Krieg homered and pitched a complete game as the Ugly Eagles edged Acalanes 2-1 Tuesday. In CVC’s last two contests, the 6-foot-5 righty has pitched 10 innings, allowing four hits and one unearned run while striking out 13. 

Up next: Thursday vs. Acalanes, 4 p.m.

No. 7 CALIFORNIA (21-4)

Previous ranking: 8

What’s happened since the last ranking: Grizzlies have won five in a row, including three against ranked opponents. But they got a scare from unranked Dublin Tuesday in the EBAL playoffs, needing seven unanswered runs to pull out a 9-6 victory. The Nos. 5-8 hitters accounted for six RBIs. 

Up next: Today at Foothill in the EBAL playoff semifinals, 4 p.m.

No. 8 FOOTHILL (20-4)
